My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

This is the second book in the Hometown Heroes series. It can also be read as a standalone. Kyra Jacobs has got a new fan! I absolutely LOVED this book! It was incredibly easy to get wrapped up in the story, small town girl moves to the big city, hot fireman seems to be everywhere she turns, making her crush on him that much harder to manage. Sparks are flying... literally. A firebug seems to be targeting her. With so many suspects, how do you know who to trust before it's too late?

Definitely recommend to those who want a romance with a bit of "whodunit"

Mia & Nick had lust at first sight. She tried to deny it, he pursued her relentlessly. It took about a week for Nick to get Mia to give him a chance. Her previous relationship left her with a mistrust of men, so the speed at which Nick wants their relationship to progress scares her. She feels he only wants her for sex, because they have a lot of it! He refuses to talk about his past & family. Only when things from his past come back to haunt him and is thrown in Mia's face, does he finally tell her, begging her not to leave him. Since this is the start to a new series, I am looking forward to the secrets to be uncovered ahead!

This is my first time reading about the Baumgartners. Not knowing what to expect, I'm so glad I read this! It is "fun" erotica; a ménage relationship with lots of sex, toys & experimentation, discreetly done so the kids are none the wiser, involving characters that are so enjoyable that you would want to know them in real life. A loving vibe flows throughout the book. This couple brings the nanny, who has lost everything, into their family... and bed.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Book 2 in The Callahans series (belonging to the Beachwood Bay series as well) is a continuation of Dex & Alicia's story. I love their story! Dex is a sexy rock star (on stage & in bed) who moved to Beachwood Bay in an attempt to put his music career behind. He feels guilty about the loss of a bandmate, plus he hates how he craves the thrill and adoration he receives while performing. Alicia has been heartbroken ever since she realized that the love of her life is getting married. It doesn't help that she never revealed her true feelings to him. Since they are close friends, he asks for her input on some wedding details. It finally hits her that this wedding is really going to happen, so Alicia decides to take Dex up on the offer he made her two months ago. Each brings out the best in each other, as well as a primal need.

An enjoyable quick read with engaging new & old characters!

A Beachwood Bay "spin-off", book 1 in The Callahan series starts off at the grand opening celebration of Emerson's restaurant, Jaybird. Dex Callahan, a popular musician, has agreed to perform. Alicia is a high society friend of Carina's. They meet outside the restaurant and later leave together. Dex wants her and offers her a night of immense pleasure. An unwelcome phone call upsets Dex (and the mood), so Alicia runs out. Dex chases after her and offers her a new proposition. Great prelude for Uninhibited, book 2 in The Callahans series!

A dark & disturbing story about a girl who was physically and emotionally abused by her step-father for 10 years. She was rescued by her "knight in shining armor", who happened to be running by when she was screaming for help. The guy, who was already raising his three brothers, made her a part of their family. A great depiction of a dysfunctional family at it's best. She doesn't talk to the family about her scars for three years. It takes their new friend being abused by the same man to finally open up. I didn't realize that this book was part of a series, so I'm excited to find out what happens next with this amazing family!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

A story of opposites attract, love that withstands many obstacles, friendship so strong it doesn't matter what you do or how far away. This book leaves you feeling "awww" and "I wanna be loved like that" (if you aren't already), but has some "damn, that's hot!" moments too. Decker spends ten years in prison for killing a man... for Lizzie. Unfortunately, just months from being released, Lizzie starts dating a guy. Three years later, Decker is still waiting for the chance to tell her how he feels for her. When her boyfriend tells her that he wants an open relationship, Lizzie is devastated and believes no one wants her. The online site she signs up for shows her otherwise, and infuriates the boyfriend when she goes out on dates. She finally sees his true colors & Decker may finally get the chance to show her just how amazing she really is.

A great quick read!

How to Marry a Cowboy (Cowboys & Brides, #4)How to Marry a Cowboy by Carolyn Brown
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

This is book 4 in the Cowboys & Brides series. This can be read as a standalone. Outstanding book! You can picture yourself on the ranch. The characters are so real... my favorites are the twins, I got such a kick out of them! Annie Rose was participating in a fundraising bridal show when she had needed to leave town fast. An abusive ex that she'd been hiding from had been in the crowd. On her way to switch to a car she had waiting for her, she thought she was being followed. She took a different exit than she had planned and ended up hitting a tree, that was next to a pond, which her car sank in. So it's no wonder that the Harper twins find her sleeping on their porch swing. Thrilled that their daddy had married and brought them home a new mama for their birthday, Annie Rose was after all still wearing the wedding dress, albeit dirty & tattered. Mason had just lost another nanny due to his trouble making twins, so Annie Rose appearing seems like fate. Annie Rose agrees to be the girls MamaNanny temporarily. Lily & Gabby love her and worry about her leaving them. Mason starts feeling things he hasn't felt in the eight years since his wife had passed away, which makes him feel guilty. Annie Rose loves being on the ranch and caring for the twins, and Mason, like her own. She worries about how quickly she developed feelings for Mason, but as Nash (the wise old ranch foreman) says "time ain't nothing but a clock makin' it's rounds around and around".

Highly recommended! Down home romance at it's best!

This book hooked me from the devastating beginning to the hopeful end. Jill loses her husband of two years in a tragic accident and she doesn't know how to carry on by herself. Luckily she has two childhood friends who stay by her side as she deals with her grief, settling the estate, making arrangements & taking over household responsibilities. After finding out her husband didn't always tell her everything, she learns life altering news, plus receives one last gift from her late husband. A place where Jill starts to find peace & happiness again. Where the knight in shining armor just may be riding a surfboard! I would definitely recommend!

In Your Corner is the second book in the Redemption series. I have not read the first book, but i definitely plan to! This book was hot... and entertaining! Sexy alpha males galore on Team Redemption, yum. This is Jake & Amanda's story, who are getting a second chance at love two years after their break-up. Hard feelings and misunderstandings make the walls between them hard to knock down. Redemption (the MMA gym) seems to bring them back together. To prove their love, they have to show each other that they are "in their corner" (smokin' hot monkey sex helps too). Can't help but love a HEA! The characters are genius, I love Jake, Amanda, Ray, Penny & the gang at Redemption. Shilla & Fuzzy would be a great story. Overall, this is one of my favorite recently read books.

I had no idea what to think when I started reading this set. Being themed "dark erotica" made me imagine having nightmares. In reality, this is an extremely well written box set! A woman so deeply in debt, that her last resort is being auctioned off to a benefactor, who will pay off your debt in exchange for a contracted amount of time being used as he sees fit, by him and anyone else he chooses. Her wealthy benefactor has her for a year and uses her excessively (blow jobs, anal sex & spanning/lashing). She is used by him, his friends, colleagues & many strangers. In the end, I do believe they need each other. The author's imagination is just mind blowing! I would definitely recommend to other fans of erotica. No hugs & kisses, HEA romance here!

Hideaway Cove (Windfall Island, #2)Hideaway Cove by Anna Sullivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Hideaway Cove is the second book in the Windfall Island series. The book begins describing the island and some of it's residents, along with a baby they smuggled off a ship. Many years later, someone is searching for the lost heir to the Stanford fortune... Trying to kill her, whoever she is.

I did not read the first book in the series, but this was a great book by itself. Book 2 is Jessi & Hold's story. Jessi was 16 & pregnant when her boyfriend left her and moved away. Eight years later, she is a single mom to her son, Benji. No longer the naive girl, she has a hard time trusting men. She is satisfied with her son being the man in her life. Holden came to the island to trace the genealogy of residents and try to find the heir. He does not share information about his life on the mainland, he's afraid of just being wanted for his wealth again. He wants Jessi and pursues her relentlessly until she finally agrees they have chemistry. Hold cares for Jessi and her son, but just isn't ready to give his heart away. Jessi is devastated when she finds out Hold's secret, seeing no future together. When Jessi & Bengi's lives are in danger, thought to be the missing heirs, Hold realizes his true feelings and rushes to try to save them... and make them a family.

Secrets, warring emotions, romance, suspense; this book has a little bit of everything, making it an intriguing read!

Finding Eva (Highland Creek Series, #1)Finding Eva by Marie Garner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

Eva has everything she wants in life, except for a man. A job she loves, a wonderful close knit family & great friends. A startling revelation appears in the form of a letter, from a Highland Creek lawyer, stating she was left a house & trust from her biological mother, who had died a month prior rather than the 20 years she'd been led to believe. Learning that her mother had lived only 2 hours from her for 20 years, Eva feels angry and abandoned. With her parents, she feels betrayed. Eva travels to her mother's home planning to get the house ready to sell so she can head back home. She gets off to a bad start with Aaron, the hot lawyer... his parents happen to live next door. They have amazing chemistry, despite the awful first impression and it doesn't take long till they can't get enough of each other... even if it's only for the short time she will be in town.

Emotional struggles, love and "hot monkey sex" make this contemporary romance a please to read! I was sad when it ended, but yea, it's a series! So excited for the next book!

Meet the Author - Isobel Irons

As you might have already guessed, Isobel Irons is a pen name.
In real life, I am (among many things) an indie film director and TV producer with a deep–some might even say obsessive–appreciation for onscreen storytelling and a lifelong book habit that I just can’t seem to kick.
In film, there’s nothing I like better than a JJ Abrams “show, not tell” character reveal, or a Joss Whedonbanter session. Or an Erik Kripke-level “bromance.” And of course, I’m a die-hard fan of the will they / won’t they trope, where the fans start shipping two characters agonizingly long before they share their first kiss.
In my novels, I use my visual storytelling skills to show the reader an entire menagerie of hidden worlds. When it comes to imagination, there is no production value and no budget. But if there was, I would spend it all and then some. To me, my characters are real people, who just happen to live in my mind. Before I write, I scout locations to set the scene, I hold exhaustive casting sessions to find the perfect quirks that will ignite the maximum amount of conflict. Then, I throw in some tricky, but believable situations that allow my characters to expose themselves–sometimes in a figurative, emotional sense, other times quite literally. Rawr.
Finally, I sit back and let the story unfold. If it sucks, I cut it. I tell my characters to reset and do it again, but this time give me MORE. Show me MORE. Make me laugh or cry or want to hit something MORE. And then, when I realize I’ve re-read through the entire thing in one sitting and–Holy shit, is it really that late, and Oh my God I am SO hungry! Have I even eaten today? That’s when I know it’s ready to be unleashed into the world.
Vivid characters. Vibrant settings. Relatable problems. Together, these elements combine to form the Ultimate Literary Crack. Or, as I like to call it, “Promoting Literacy through Shameless Addiction.”

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

Say Anything is the second book in Isobel Irons' Life or Death series. This can be read as a standalone. In Traci & Brady's story, they are both doctors, ER residents in a NYC hospital... a true "opposites attract". Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, Traci is very straight-forward, focused & factual. She has a hard time with people, which her roommate/BFF is trying to help her with. Brady doesn't take his job seriously and is a manwhore. Dr Conrad Brady and Dr Traci Tanner do not like each other... until a crazy night that ends with on-call room sex & a drunken night that involves lots of talking & Sci-Fi. Craziness involving a new street drug, Brazilian mob & police enlightens both of them to what is really important in their jobs and personal lives.

This was an easy book to get swept up in. I absolutely love Traci! Her no nonsense manner was refreshing, I would definitely want her as a doctor... though maybe Brady if I was that bride ;-) Their competitive work relationship was fun to read. Traci's blog post about sex is just... Well I guess I should say just grab this book up and read to find out!

This book was really well written. It provided what I will call an "intro to BDSM", as the reader follows Vanessa in her research about BDSM, the subject of her research paper. The romance builds throughout the book with Will (a Dom & Dungeon Master) bringing out the submissive side of Vanessa and she brings forth a feeling he hasn't felt in a long time, wanting her to be a part of his life & his sub.

I would definitely recommend this book!

Defining Destiny is the first book in a new series by Deanna Chase. The understanding of this story is that everyone has one true soul mate. Lucy & Cadan are singer/songwriters, as well as soul mates, giving the music they perform together an almost magical experience for their audience. Tired of Cadan's ego & infidelity, Lucy leaves her tour obligations to return home to the house she once shared with her father. Lucy doesn't return to the stage until her best friend Jax's birthday, where she meets Seth, an artist who lost his soul mate in a horrible accident. Seth has become well known for only engaging in one night stands. Lucy has been warned about Seth, but does she listen? The story continues to find out if it is possible to find love a second time.

I really enjoyed this book. My first "soul mate" based romance, so that was a great spin.

A few months after the devastating murder of her parents, Drew must travel to Maine to deal with the house her grandparents left to her. She feels betrayed because her mother lied to her regarding her family. That is just the first of many shocking secrets. Not planning to stay in Maine complicates the growing attraction she shares with the neighbor. Warnings given to her by two new friends also make it hard for her to put her trust in a possible relationship.

I loved Drew's journey to "get her mind straight" without the need for water ;-)
