This book hit the trifecta for me: horses, romance & suspense. Nick, a wealthy businessman, receives ownership of a racehorse to cover a debt he was owed. Not wanting the beloved mare to be sold, Daisy accepts the challenge of showing him how great horse racing is. Daisy, a young woman who has had a hard life (and is constantly harassed by her brother in law for money), is unnerved by Nick's wealth and "dream big" philosophy. Even after becoming partners on horses and lovers in bed, she refuses to tell Nick about her past and family. Matters are taken out of her hands when her brother in law becomes more demanding.
